AZ Spring Break 2017

Fountain where girl lost her clothes

I guess I will start by explaining who I am.  My name is Rudy and I am responsible for the outside of the London Bridge Resort, the English Village, and the Bridgewater Channel.  There is a lot of ground to cover (110 acres) and a huge responsibility that I love and that challenges me daily.  As a matter of keeping myself entertained, I have a tendency to look at situations that I run into and ask the simple question, “Why did this happen THIS way?”  There are many instances of this question which leave me laughing to myself on a regular basis.  This particular story took place on my very first week of working for the London Bridge Resort and it was only DAY 1 of Spring Break.  It is also one of those circumstances where you just have to ask yourself, “How?” along with “Why?” only to be stuck with an absurd mental image.

They say truth is stranger than fiction, and this is no different.  On this particular morning I met with our crew and they were all laughing about what we might find being the first day of Spring Break.  I have been warned numerous times already and did not take it serious, but took it as establishment.  It was 6am as I made my way to the top of the Village Shops and noticed a pile of wet clothes next to the water fountain.  Not just a shirt or pants, but a pair of shorts, bra, tank top, and lacy thongs.  In a pile, soaking wet, next to the fountain with no one in site.  I admit, I put together a funny mental scenario of what happened to generate this particular pile of wet clothes next to the fountain and chuckled to myself.  Why would someone change clothes by a fountain in the middle of the night neatly with an awkward attempt to fold them.  Since there was no one around, I put them in the trash can of my maintenance cart and went on about my day.

Later that morning, when I had finished my rounds and was getting ready to start in on a project with some of the other team members, we were approached by one of the Resort Safety Officers laughing about an incident he had to review from early that morning.  As it turned out, he found a girl, naked, in the water fountain that morning.  She was looking for her clothes that she while chilling in the fountain!  Apparently, she did not think highly of the wet clothes, so she took them off and passed out in the fountain.  Unless I was looking for a person in the fountain, I would not see her and obviously didn’t.  That SCENARIO never entered my mind as a novice of Spring Break!

When I asked the Safety Officer what happened to her, he said, “She just walked down the sidewalk and into the resort naked.”

So what did she tell her friends?  What did they say?  Did she even get to tell her friends?  “Becky, where’s your clothes?”, “Uh, I don’t know.”  Not sure who she is or where she may be, but she has a story if she can remember it and just so you know, we have a bunch of these situations every year.

Have fun at Spring Break and just know that we keep lost clothes for a few days before tossing them now. Try to keep your clothes with you if not on you while here. We look forward to you visit.
